New Blog, New Work, New Site, Kind of.

It’s been over a month since I launched this site and quite frankly I’ve done nothing with it thanks to the purchase of my first house, a significant other, the NatSKA season restarting and a half arsed attempt at keeping my finger in racing. I didn’t really think that through did I?

Well I did and I didn’t. I spent way too much time trying to create something that was 100% perfect from the get go, doing and achieving everything on launch. This is why personal projects are always the hardest of jobs, because in your own eyes it will never be done, it will never be perfect. But with a stern talking to from my partner after she got fed up of watching me tweak the same design night after night I went for it. Once it’s out there in the public eye it pushes you to keep on top of it… He says. My aim with this brand is not only to make it a karting household name, but something that I can be proud of from a personal stand point, a cure to all those creative crutches and roadblocks!

I’ve been studying graphic design since I was in high school and I’ve done nothing else education & career wise since, so why has it taken me this long to bring my craft to my love of karting? Funnily enough I touched on something similar to this brand with my college FMP, I then proceeded to take it no further during my university years away from home, a new world far away from the bedroom dwelling, computer game playing teenage weekend racer! I seemed to leave all that behind. Maybe if I had attended uni a few years later I would of caught wind of the BUKC explosion, keeping me in karting and inspiring me to progress that FMP idea further through my studies…. Why it’s taken me so long to think up an idea I basically had 8yrs ago I have no idea. So is life.

See below my horrifically embarrassing FMP college project. I do remember having some photos of the stickers on my kart, but even on the deepest depths of my oldest hard drive I’m struggling to find them. Probably for the best. I’m a bit better now I promise.

By bringing both worlds together I feel can I create something I can 100% call my own and thoroughly enjoy doing. If you can marry your craft to your game then as far as I’m concerned you’ve cracked it.

To quote the very lyrics I have tattooed on me:

SO LET’S BEGIN!
I often wonder if I’ll ever finish all I’ve started, and the answer I have found is NO.
No, I will never finish all that I have started because life is about doing, the process
And not the result. Life is about doing whether you want to or not.

MY LIFE!: A constant work in progress and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
